August
Bank Holiday 2010
The
annual August Bank Holiday celebrations kicked off as usual with the
children's sports. Congratulations
to the Willerby Team who won the 2010 Hidden Valley Sports Day! This
year was a really close contest between all the teams. Well done to
all those who took part in the sports day – for their excellent
display of sportsmanship.
Congratulations
also to all those on the organising team who worked so hard in
arranging such a fun event for the competitors and spectators alike.

winning Willerby Team

appreciative for their efficient organisation of this competition.
Congratulations
to this year’s winners of the competition – Steve O’Brien and
Brian Chawner and to the runners up Curtis Langley and Wes Lawrence.
Congratulations also to Neil Oakes for winning Nearest the Pin.

Mixed
Doubles Tennis
Neil and
Sharon Oakes were back in the spotlight again for the 2010 Hidden
Valley Mixed Doubles when they fought off a thrilling challenge from
Neil Harrison and Katie Bullock in the final to win for the 5th
time! It was a fantastic finalé to the tennis tournament with some
spectacular shots from all players. The
standard of tennis at Hidden Valley just gets better and better –
spectators were treated to six hours of first class tennis in
wonderful sunshine with such great sportsmanship between all
players.

Junior
Tennis Tournament
Congratulations
to Beth Birch and Matt Harrison - winners of the 2010 Junior Tennis
Tournament who won a close fought battle in the finals against
Matt’s brother Jack and his cousin Brad, winning 6-4, a very
exciting match with more Juice scores than can be remembered. Beth
was a runner up last year so clinched the final this year. Well done
to Beth and Matt on a splendid performance. Newcomers to the
tournament this year were Scarlett and Josh Oakes, who despite being
the youngest competitors played superb tennis in a close fought
match against Holly and Billy May.
